Philanthropist and entrepreneur Tej Kohli has been featured on Forbes.com in an exclusive interview with Andrew Cave. As part of his series following prominent business CEOs, Cave follows Kohli’s successes and ambitions in his fight to eradicate blindness worldwide.
Speaking on an issue close to his heart, Kohli discusses the state of world blindness and asserts that a massive 75% of cornea blindness is avoidable.
“Why is there not being more done about this?”
Kohli has vowed to half the number of people wit blindness by 2030-2035, primarily though his continuous funding of the Tej Kohli Cornea Institute (TKCI). In collaboration with the LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), the TKCI is already undergoing research into developing ways of synthesizing cornea from yeast and peptides in the hope of increasing global accessibility to cornea transplants in the future.
“It’s a big job, but I feel this is my calling.”
